Our Story
Our Past
In 1989 Alec Murphy set about creating a business that would focus on and be driven by the needs of customers.
Our business started life in a small domestic garage in the village of Asfordby near Melton Mowbray with a transit van, a few tools and a huge amount of determination!
A few years and a few employees later, our business had grown, resulting in a move to our first commercial premises - a modest 1000 sq ft barn on a local farm!
With loyal customers and continued growth, we later moved into a 2,500 sq ft industrial premises, which offered more room for storage and manufacture and the development of our garage door showroom and domestic garage door work.
In 2004 Alec teamed up with his son Paul. Having originally been involved with the business since the beginning, Paul brought with him years of industry experience and a renewed drive and determination to meet the needs of our customers.
Our Present
In 2008 we moved into our present 6,250 sq ft factory. This fundamentally changed the way we are able to work and has provided the necessary space to work safely and efficiently, to manufacture and store the products our customers need from garage doors and commercial security through to industrial doors and fire shutters. Our new premises now also provides a modern contemporary garage door showroom and a base in which to grow for the future.
Our company is run by Paul Murphy (Managing Director) with the help, support and dedication of all the excellent staff that make Asfordby Doors a company that you can work with and trust.
In Memory of Alec Murphy
After a life of hard work and dedication to his family, his business and the door industry, Alec was sadly diagnosed in 2007 with Lung Cancer.
Following a short battle with this aggressive disease, Alec passed away in 2008.
Alec will of course be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues, but the tireless work he dedicated to the business and his customers for over 18 years will be remembered and continued through Asfordby Doors.
